First Theme: “Water Security For Life”

Water is the basis of life, while the challenges of water scarcity and increasing water demand due to increasing humanitarian and development needs owing to population growth in the Arab region led to a decline in Arab water reserves, a decrease in the availability of water quantity, all are the factors led to decrease in per capita water below the global average in many of the Arab countries. This requires action to increase management capacities of available resources, find alternative resources and achieve the sixth goal of sustainable development (SDDG6) within a framework of integrated management approach and governance of water resources where sessions of this axis shall focus on the following main topics:-
1- Modern techniques and practices in integrated management of water resources, building capacities, and water productivity.
2- Water demand management and decrease in the quantity of unaccounted water.
3- Development of desalination techniques as a strategic solution in the Arab region.
4- Enhance the use of and developing techniques of water harvesting and groundwater recharge.
5- Explore methods of expanding the use of treated water, salt water, and grey water in agriculture.
